Project Update

New Community Grants Panel

Each year, Council awards $120,000 in annual community grants to a range of not-for-profit community groups and organisations to help deliver important community programs, activities and services.

This is an essential part of Council's support to our community, and we invite Mini Frankston City members to become directly involved!

Previously, community grants were assessed by Councillors and council officers but we’ve made an important change to the process to give community members a seat at the table and stronger say in the decision-making process.

Our new Community Grants Panel will ensure an equitable and accessible process in the application and assessment of Council’s Annual Community Grants Program.

Who will be on the Panel?

Each year, a Panel will be selected and invited to assess and make recommendations on grants.

This new panel will include:

  • Four community members selected from Mini Frankston City - submit your EOI below!
  • One Council representative (Director of Communities or another nominated representative)

Council officers will also attend the meetings but do not have voting rights (Community Grants Officer, Coordinator Community Programs and/or Manager Community Strengthening). Council subject-matter experts may also be consulted on applications prior to the assessment meeting.

We are particularly keen to receive EOIs from young people, seniors, women, people from our disability community, people born overseas as well as our LGTBIQ+ communities, so that a range of interests and needs can be taken into consideration when grants are awarded. Experience and expertise in not-for-profit community groups and organisations will be highly regarded.
