How did we engage in Phase 1?

We asked our community to help us map areas affected by flood and coastal hazards, and engaged at drop in sessions to hear and respond to questions.

Summary of online map contributions

  • 284 markers were added to the map by our community (adding to the 51 Council had marked from previous community reports):
    • 216 for public land floods
    • 61 for private land floods.
    • 2 for coastal erosion
    • 5 for coastal inundation.
  • Contributions mainly related to flood issues in Seaford (131) and Frankston (114).
  • 108 ‘upvotes’ were added to markers already on the map (88 for public land flood, 12 for private land flood, 8 for coastal hazards).
  • 29 ‘downvotes’ were added (2 for private land flood markers, 24 for public land flood markers, 1 for coastal inundation, 2 for coastal hazards).
  • 233 people contributed to the online map
  • 2794 people visited the Engage Frankston page
  • Contributors were from the following areas:

  • 51% of contributors identified as woman or female, 45% as man or male, and 4% preferred not to answer.
  • 5% of contributors identified as LGBTIQA+, 1% as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, 3% as speaking another language, and 7% as having a disability or long-term health condition.

Questions and Answers

In November 2024, we held three drop in sessions in Frankson, Frankston North and Carrum Downs to hear our community's experiences with floods and coastal hazards in person.
