Stage 2: Draft Sandhurst LATM Plan Engagement Closed

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback during Stage 1 of the Sandhurst Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) study. Feedback from Stage 1 has directly informed the recommended treatments included in the Draft Sandhurst LATM Plan, which was shared with the community as part of the Stage 2 engagement.

Based on the traffic concerns, ideas and suggestions raised by the community, Council has developed a Draft Sandhurst LATM Plan outlining the recommended traffic management treatments across the precinct.

Stage 2 engagement invited residents and road users to:

  • Explore the draft Sandhurst LATM Plan
  • Indicate whether they supported or objected each proposed treatment
  • Provide additional feedback on the recommendations

Feedback closed on 14 June 2026.

The Strategic Engineering team will now review all feedback received from the community and the Sandhurst Resident Committee.

This feedback will be considered in the development of the Sandhurst LATM plan, helping to guide future traffic management improvements in the area.

Further updates will be provided on this page as the project progresses. "Follow" the page for updates.

How you participated

  • View the online map and survey

Community members were invited to explore an interactive map and complete a survey to provide feedback on the proposed treatments.

The interactive map allowed users to view the locations of proposed treatments and access additional information. All recommended treatments were included in the survey, with location-specific treatments also displayed on the map.

What's happening next?

Following the close of stage 2 consultation, all feedback will be reviewed and considered to help inform the final Sandhurst LATM Plan.

A report on the Sandhurst Precinct LATM Study, together with the final LATM Plan, will be presented to Council for consideration at its September 2026 meeting.

If you would like to provide further input, you may request the opportunity to make a submission to Council prior to the meeting.

About the Project

Frankston City Council is undertaking a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) study in the Sandhurst LATM Precinct to improve traffic management and road safety within the area. This will build on information we have already collected during our recent Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan engagement to focus on the Sandhurst LATM area.

An LATM study is a process of identifying existing traffic and road safety issues, and developing recommendations to improve the safety, amenity and access on local roads within the study area. Common issues which are addressed through an LATM study include ‘rat running’, speeding, as well as reducing barriers to increased walking and cycling participation.

The Sandhurst LATM Precinct study area is bound by Thompsons Road to the north, McCormicks Road to the west, Wedge Road to the south, and Western Port Highway to the east.

The Sandhurst LATM process began with the identification of traffic, safety, and access issues. This was undertaken through the collection and analysis of data, together with feedback received from the community during Stage 1 engagement activities.

Following the identification of these issues, a Draft Local Area Traffic Management Plan was developed. The project is now in Stage 2, where the community is invited to review the draft plan and provide feedback before the plan is finalised.

Community participation is essential in identifying existing traffic issues in your local area, and there are multiple ways to contribute to outcomes of this study.

All community members who have ideas, thoughts or concerns relating to traffic, road safety, pedestrian or cyclist issues, are strongly encouraged to get involved.
