The Place Naming Policy is necessary to ensure a clear and consistent framework for naming roads, localities and features

within Frankston City Council. This policy enables Council to comply with relevant legislation, specifically the Geographic Place Names Act 1998 and the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria 2022 and supports good governance, transparency and community engagement in naming decisions.

Your input will help refine the policy before it is presented to Council for adoption. We invite you to review the draft Policy below and share your feedback in our survey below by 11.59pm 3 May 2026.
