Why should you engage on policies?
Engaging on policies helps to shape the vision and guiding principles Council will use to make decisions.
What is a policy?
Council’s services are delivered in accordance with a range of adopted policies, plans and strategies. These documents are developed and reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Policies are important because they:
- Set the direction and provide guiding principles to achieve specific objectives.
- Ensure that all employees know their roles, responsibilities, and obligations.
- Provide the foundation and expectations for achieving the principles and decision making.
Policy documents focus on how to make a decision. They usually include principles that should be followed. Having a broad focus on achieving long-term goals makes policies important documents to support consistent decision making.
Protocols, strategies and plans set out and support how the policy will be delivered. These documents focus on actions, tasks and guidelines that should be performed.

Who can engage on policies?
We invite all individual community members who are interested to provide feedback through Engage Frankston!
You can make a written submission on behalf of a group (such as community group, organisation, or association) by emailing governance.enquiries@frankston.vic.gov.au

30 days to provide feedback
We allow a minimum of 30 days to accept community engagement feedback on policies. You can follow this page to be notified when policies are open for feedback.

Using community feedback
Following community engagement, your feedback will be used to refine policies before they are presented to Council for adoption.
