Draft Community Engagement Framework 2026 and Engagement Report published

20 October 2025

We’ve drafted a new Community Engagement Framework 2026 – does it meet your needs and expectations?

Between 2024 and 2025, more than 2,000 community members shared their thoughts on how Council should engage with our community. We’ve listened and used your feedback to shape the draft Community Engagement Framework 2026.

We’re proposing to commit to:

  • Having a planned, visible and inclusive process for how we provide community with opportunities to influence Council decisions that affect their lives.
  • Engaging only where there is influence, and explaining what is negotiable.
  • Defining engagement as giving every resident the opportunity to have a say on local priorities and the future of our community.
  • Clarifying that community engagement is managed separately to stakeholder engagement, education, service feedback and complaints and other legislated consultation processes.
  • Outlining new guidelines for where, when and how we engage, and who we engage with, to better meet your needs for timely, accessible and inclusive engagement.
  • Simplifying our Principles and levels of engagement— making them easier to understand and apply.
  • Improving and expanding our processes for evaluating and reviewing engagement activities.
