What is happening at Sandfield Reserve?
Council has delivered the Sandfield Reserve Master Plan which was endorsed in 2021. This includes:
- Upgrading the existing Youth Space and Play Space
- BBQs, shelter and picnic facilities
- Realigning the rebound wall to improve visibility through the reserve.
- New tree planting and improved park amenity
How did community engagement inform the upgrades?
We gathered community feedback for upgrades to Sandfield Reserve during:
- The development of the Master Plan in 2021 (learn more in Document Library)
- In 2023 during Stages 1 and 2 engagement on the youth space and play space (see more details on Stages 1 and 2 below)
- In 2025, we are conducting a project evaluation.
What did we hear?
Our community would visit the reserve more often if there were:
- Public toilets - 65.9 percent
- Improved paths and lighting for walking and exercise – 64.7 percent
- An upgraded playground – 57.6 percent
- Picnic and BBQ facilities – 55.3 percent
- A community event and food truck zone - 50.6 percent
Our community wanted to see in an upgraded play space:

- Adventure play (Ropes/Rock Climbing) - 62.0 percent
- Nature based play - 59.5 percent
- Swings/Slides - 41.8 percent
- Sensory play - 40.5 percent
When we presented the draft Youth Space and Play Space designs:

- 81% of respondents said they gave the Play Space a rating of 4 and 5 stars (out of 5)
