A safer community for all

In Stage 1 of our Community Engagement on the Safe Community Policy and Strategy, we engaged with a diverse range of community members to encourage a whole of community approach to identify key priorities and areas of focus for community safety and crime prevention over the next 10 years.

Once developed, the policy and strategy will guide the work of Council and our partners to ensure we are all working collaboratively towards a safe and inclusive municipality where people feel safe, well connected and welcome to participate in community life.

To learn more about the role of local government in strengthening the safety and resilience of our community, we encouraged community members during this stage to read our Discussion Paper in the Document Library below.

Initial broad community engagement

We invited you to complete our survey by 5pm, Sunday 3rd April 2022 to go into the draw to win 1 of 2 double passes (age 15+) for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow.

Further targeted engagement with LGBTQIA+ and CALD communities

Community safety affects us all and it is important that we capture a diverse range of experiences.

Our initial engagement had a wide reach, however we identified some gaps.

To ensure all voices are heard and have the opportunity to contribute their experiences of safety in our community we then reached out to the LGBTQIA+ community and people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background (CALD) to have their say.

We sought further feedback from our LGBTQIA+ and CALD communities to complement our community engagement held earlier this year. We invited you to complete our short survey by 5pm Friday 23 September to go into the draw to win one (1) digital Prezzee gift card valued at $50.
