• Project Update

    Construction of the play space was completed in December 2022 followed by the completion of the multi-purpose courts in August 2023. Stage 2, which includes the play space car park and toilets is currently underway.

About the Project

Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve is located on the corner of Wedge Road and Frankston-Dandenong Road in Carrum Downs. The reserve is one of the largest sections of open space in the Carrum Downs and Skye area.

The City of Frankston Play Strategy recommends the design and construction of a destination play space at Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve as a high-priority and to seek additional external funding to support the project.

In 2021, Council was successful in securing a Victorian State Government grant through the Park Revitalisation Grants Programme for this project.

Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve play space is supported by the Victorian Government through the Parks Revitalisation Programme.

Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve Landscape Concept Plan

To enable the design and construction of a new destination play space that caters for children of all ages and abilities, a landscape concept plan was prepared to consider:

  • The location of a new play space;
  • How to plan for supporting infrastructure such as car parking, walking paths, and park amenity;
  • Planning for future projects including pavilion refurbishments and new multi-use courts.
