What is the Foreshore Advisory Committee?

We're seeking Expressions of Interest from the community for membership to the Foreshore Advisory Committee. The Committee advises Council on the strategic planning and management policies guiding the management of Frankston and Seaford foreshore reserves.

This is a unique opportunity to become actively involved in the management of a highly significant area of coastal reserve and in the development of Frankston’s Coastal and Marine Management Plan.

What is the Committee's purpose?

Frankston foreshore is renowned as the most pristine and accessible stretch of foreshore on Port Phillip. The purpose of the Committee is to involve diverse representatives of our community in the development of the Coastal and Marine Management Plan and its ongoing implementation. The Committee is an opportunity for these representatives to communicate their aspirations and concerns for the foreshore.

Members of the Committee will not have decision making powers but will have the opportunity through the Committee process to present their views and opinions for consideration.

Who can nominate to join the Committee?

The Advisory Committee will comprise the following members for a tenure of 3 years:

  • Two (2) Councillors to be appointed by Frankston City Council;
  • Ten (10) community representatives to be appointed by Frankston City Council;
  • Two (2) Frankston City Council officers
  • Invited representatives from:
    • Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation
    • Department Environment Land Water and Planning
    • Parks Victoria
    • Melbourne Water

Please note, that community representatives are selected on their individual merits and not as representatives of Community groups.

Specific experience or skills in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:

  • An approach to the task that includes encouraging community interest and involvement in our foreshore.

  • Interest and enthusiasm!

  • A commitment to facilitating access and use of the foreshore by the Frankston community.

  • Caring for, protecting and managing the Foreshore Reserve.
